Confirm the structure and dimensions
Start from the dieline agreed with the supplier. Check how cut lines, folds and closures relate to the actual product. Do not reuse a similar-looking carton template without reviewing its dimensions.
Separate production assets from references
Prepare the logo, images and final copy, keeping reference images separate from production artwork. Check product names, contact details and required information, together with image and font usage rights.
Request the supplier’s specifications
File format, colour setup, bleed, fold markings and image resolution should follow the specifications for the individual job. Avoid assuming one universal setting. Provide agreed colour references where a particular colour is important.
Review proofs and record the approved version
Check spelling, image orientation, joins and content near edges. Keep a shared record of the approved file and version. Screen colour alone does not replace the sample or proof process agreed with the supplier.
