Understand the product first
Begin with dimensions, weight, items per carton and how the customer will remove the product. Consider whether the packaging is for retail display, a gift set or delivery: each use brings different priorities.
Consider assembly and opening
Lids, locking points and assembly methods affect the packing process. Fold a sample to review ease of assembly, access to the product and any need for an internal arrangement or insert.
Test the actual packing setup
Internal dimensions should account for the real product, wrapping and inserts. Try packing and arranging the products as intended. Agree appropriate checks for transport or stacking before finalizing the structure.
Confirm the details with the supplier
Bring a product sample, references, intended quantity and target date to discuss structure, material and printing together. Selecting a shape from an image does not create production-ready artwork: dimensions, samples and job-specific details still need approval.
